Theirs \u00a0not \u00a0to \u00a0make reply, theirs \u00a0not \u00a0to reason \u00a0why,\u00a0 rode into the Valley of Death \u2026\u2026 five CRPF Martyrs<\/b>.\u00a0 <\/b><\/p>\n

The killing of five lathi-equipped CRPF jawans sometime ago in the battleground Kashmir by\u00a0 the Pak-trained jihadis reminds me of\u00a0 Lord Tennyson\u2019s famous poem, The Charge of\u00a0 The Light Brigade<\/i>. \u00a0\u00a0The \u00a0non-policy approach of Indian Government to the Pak-sponsored militancy in Kashmir has been a shameful saga of\u00a0 monumental disasters. But the latest policy blunder of disarming the jawans of the country\u2019s oldest para-military force and telling them to fight the AK-47 equipped jihadis with lathis \u00a0marked a new low in pusillanimity of the Indian State.\u00a0 \u00a0![\"crpf](\"https:\/\/patriotsforumindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/crpf-srinagar2.jpg\")
<\/p>\n
After the hanging of Afzal Guru, the jihadi outfits operating\u00a0 from Pakistan\u00a0 had publicly threatened multiple retaliatory\u00a0 terror strikes to avenge Guru\u2019s death.\u00a0 It was followed by two bomb blasts in Hyderabad claiming 17 lives. While there was a national alert circulated by the Intelligence Bureau across the country\u00a0 directing the security personnel to exercise extra vigilance, the Kashmir government ordered the disarming of the C R P F Jawans and directed them to carry lathis to fightthe gun-toting \u00a0insurgents. <\/b><\/p>\n
\u00a0<\/b>Like the soldiers of the Light Brigade \u00a0killed in the Battle of\u00a0 Balacalava, the CRPF jawans knew that someone had blundered, they knew that Omar Abdullah had blundered, that Sushil Kumar Shinde had blundered\u00a0 by making them give up their arms and adorn themselves with lathis for fighting the gun-toting jihadis.<\/p>\n
Yet the five bold martyrs courageously opted to die in the line of duty because theirs was not to make reply, theirs was not to reason why, theirs but was to do and die ? \u00a0\u00a0![\"crpf](\"https:\/\/patriotsforumindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/crpf-srinagar-1.jpg\")

The jihadi storm-troopers have now been targeting India for more than\u00a0\u00a0 twenty years. Till date the Indian government has not been able to stem the onslaught of radical Islamists across India.There is a vain hope and delusional misconception among the voluble chatterati\u00a0 of\u00a0 Lutyen\u2019s New Delhi that\u00a0 by following our\u00a0 non-policy approach of trial and error the Indian State will be able to defeat the\u00a0 heavyweight jihadi gorillas.\u00a0 Day in and day out\u00a0 inadequately read columnists and strategic analysts churn out reams of papers faulting the police and security officers for \u00a0\u00a0failure in\u00a0 preventing\u00a0 repetitive attacks by\u00a0\u00a0 terrorists\u00a0 anywhere and everywhere in India.\u00a0\u00a0 The real problem,\u00a0 however, lies elsewhere.<\/p>\n

Today India is choc-a-bloc with thousands of \u00a0jihadis and \u00a0fifth-<\/p>\n
columnists and lakhs of fellow travellers, some even occupying important political positions. \u00a0They may not be spies of hostile neighbours, but they can easily be used as fellow-travellers.<\/p>\n

It is time to publicly admit that the militancy in Kashmir is no \u2018freedom\u2019 struggle, nor a call for greater autonomy.\u00a0 Why conceal the fact that militants from 18 Muslim countries have been found fighting our security forces in the valley?\u00a0 \u00a0\u00a0To put it bluntly, the Kashmir militancy\u00a0 is\u00a0 an extension of the global jihad and must be countered accordingly.\u00a0 To win in this two decades old clash of civilisations, \u00a0the Indian government must adopt a zero tolerance strategy. The other alternative is \u00a0to face failure, shame and ignominy at international level. \u00a0![\"crpf3\"](\"https:\/\/patriotsforumindia.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2013\/04\/crpf3.jpg\")

As a former soldier, who had the privilege of serving for six years in the Central Reserve Police Force, I recognize that laying one\u2019s life in defence of nation, is a call of duty for Armed forces . But of late in Mahrashtra , Punjab and UP there have been attacks and even murder of\u00a0 Police personnel which were virtually ignored for political reasons . This case of J&K is possibly the worst case of political killing of Armed force personnel by downgrading threat to their lives . Responsibility for this needs to be fixed on politicians .<\/p>\n
I salute the five bravehearts and their families.\u00a0 Hopefully the two pusillanimous governments, the one at the centre and the other in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, will learn some lessons in valour\u00a0 from Israelis\u00a0 and acquire the guts to defeat the ugly designs of\u00a0 Pak-sponsored terrorists.<\/p>\n
