\nToday we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense<\/b> ,<\/p>\n
who has been with us for many years.<\/p>\n
No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were<\/p>\n
long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape.<\/p>\n
He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as:<\/p>\n
– Knowing when to come in out of the rain;
\n– Why the early bird gets the worm;
\n– Life isn’t always fair;
\n– and maybe it was my fault.
\n
\nCommon Sense <\/b>lived by simple, sound financial policies<\/p>\n
(don’t spend more than you can earn) and<\/p>\n
reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge).<\/p>\n
His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but<\/p>\n
overbearing regulations were set in place. teens suspended from school for<\/p>\n
using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an<\/p>\n
unruly student, only worsened his condition.
\n
\nCommon Sense <\/b>lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing<\/p>\n
the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children.<\/p>\n
It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent<\/p>\n
to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents<\/p>\n
when a student became drug addict.<\/p>\n
\nCommon Sense <\/b>lost the will to live as the churches became businesses;<\/p>\n
and criminals received better treatment than their victims.
\n
\nCommon Sense <\/b>took a beating when you couldn’t defend yourself from<\/p>\n
a burglar in your own home and the burglar could sue you for assault.
\n
\nCommon Sense <\/b>finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realize<\/p>\n
that a steaming cup of coffee was hot.\u00a0 She spilled a little in her lap, and was<\/p>\n
promptly awarded a huge settlement.
\n
\nCommon Sense <\/b>was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust,<\/p>\n
by his wife, Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason.<\/p>\n
He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers;
\nI Know My Rights
\nI Want It Now
\nSomeone Else Is To Blame
\nI’m A Victim
\n
\nNot many attended his funeral because <\/b><\/p>\n
so few realized he was gone.<\/b><\/p>\n
