In the beginning it gave us a sense of triumph and achievement particularly when Obama came to India on Republic day parade . So many foreign dignitaries came to India , he also visited so many countries . But on a more somber reflection what has all these visits given us ? \"nehru<\/a>Nothing very big \u00a0so far ! Neither the increased FDI nor any solid \u2018 Make In India \u2018 proposal has materialized . Nor has the Chinese visits resulted in any gains . Pakistan has remained as offensive . It has made no concession on Mumbai attacks . Russia , a one time solid ally has started flirting with Pakistan fearing India\u2019s perceived closeness to America . The military helicopter deal with Pakistan was just a warning that we were crossing the threshold of desired closeness with west from Russian perspective . But these visits have been useful in removing man eater image of Modi created by paid media , both in India and abroad , based on the false propaganda about Gujrat . It also gives India a greater western acceptability and accessibility to Western technology\u00a0 . Finally West may start perceiving India as a wavering and weak ally but not an enemy belonging to Soviet camp . But in the process we are losing Russia a time tested ally . Pakistan on the other hand has become what we were to Russia in Indira Gandhi days . Recent Chinese Veto in Lakhvi\u2019s case is a\u00a0 reminder of consistent Russian vetoes on Kashmir . We do not have that assurance from Russia now . It is possible that in the days to come , PM Modi may become as much of an \u00a0international star as Nehru and with Ajit Doval may discover his own \u00a0version of \u2018 Bandung \u2018 or Panchsheel or \u2018 Non Alignment principle\u2019 . But it will be as ineffective or helpless in securing us real friends as it was in 1962 . None of Nehrus great non aligned allies ie Indonesia , Egypt , Yugoslavia supported us in 1962 . Khrushchev was clear that China is our brother , India was just a valuable friend .Only Kennedy was moved by Nehrus letter of help !\"modi<\/a> The truth is that international relations are based on nation\u2019s interests ie either economic or defence . We are a negligible player on international trade with less than two percent \u00a0share . Similarly we cannot help anyone militarily nor really can defend ourself against China or even Pakistan if it strikes first with nukes. Our two trillion dollar economy is peanuts for any real\u00a0 international interests .\u00a0 We too are \u00a0vunerable as Greece as we have been having an adverse balance of trade . We have a fairly big international debt . Our current \u00a0real growth rate ( Industrial ) could be just 3 % per annum. Our foreign exchange reserves are having a large component of\u00a0 NRI deposits and FIIs share market holdings which are highly mobile . If these along with our remittances are withdrawn we could be in serious crisis . We can see how Iran , Russia and Venezuela have been fixed by just one oil price move by West . Similar action can be taken against India any time . So we as a vulnerable nation cannot be a major force in international politics for atleast next fifteen more years till such time our economy becomes say atleast six trillion dollars and we have say an eight to \u00a0ten percent share in international trade and exports .\"GILANI<\/a> Already signs of Indian \u00a0weakness are visible . Based on recent Pakistani charges , Briatin has started levying charges about Indian funding to MQM via BBC . John Kery has started talking of Indian support to terror \u00a0in\u00a0 Pakistan \u00a0. We have been forced to talk with Pakistan . West will like to control China via India , India via Pakistan and Pakistan via Afghanistan . It has its own Whitemen\u2019s agenda to defend in Whiteland of Europe . We are really of fringe importance to Americans . China and Pakistan together will always be a bigger economic and military attraction to USA and West . \u00a0They will playing the proverbial monkey\u2019s role in fight of cats .Their support\u00a0 to India will stop where real Chinese opposition begins . Beyond 2025 they will not defend Taiwan , Phillipines, Vietnam \u00a0and Japan in war with Chinese particularly on matters like South China Sea . In crisis they will force us to make more concessions to Pakstan to avoid nuclear war just they Nehru was ditched on Kashmir\u00a0 . So Modiji should weigh these options and develop a Swadeshi economic strategy \u00a0before becoming a martyr like Pandit Nehru in 1962.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
