Understanding The Nepal Quagmire<\/p>\n

Recently I happened to attend a discussion meeting on Nepal where some important civil
\nsociety personalities like Dr. Sundar Mani Dixit, Ravit Kumar etc. from that
\ncountry were present. They were quite forthright in their assessment of Nepalese
\ncrisis and some of their observations I would like to share with you all –<\/p>\n
Nepalese are fiercely sovereign minded. They do not like to be treated \/
\ndescribed as “sub-Indians” !! This term I heard for the first time.<\/p>\n
Fear
\nof being gobbled up like another Sikkim always looms large in every Nepalese
\nmind. They fear the size, might of and inevitable dependence on India. They
\nappealed to us to treat them discreetly !! As if we have been tormenting them
\nall these years !!<\/p>\n
Agitating Madhesis are another source of worry for
\nthem as they are originally Indians, may force dismemberment of Nepal
\nultimately.
\nNepalese never received respect and affection from India !!
\nAnti-Indian attitude is nationalism in Nepal and Madhesis are suspect. All
\ndailies are anti-Indian now under Communist influence.<\/p>\n
PM Modi earned
\ntremendous goodwill and respect among Nepalese which they admittedly, frittered
\naway owing to Communists coming to power. Border blockade has been done by
\nMadhesis on Nepalese side of the border while their Leftist PM blames India for
\nthe crisis and intransigence.<\/p>\n
There are several pressure groups working
\nin Nepal who do not like PM Modi’s popularity in Nepal.<\/p>\n
When Nepalese
\nConstitution was being drafted, Britain wrote official letters to all Nepalese
\nMPs to stick to secular nature with freedom to convert. Mercifully, conversions
\nare completely banned, cow has been declared national animal and Vikram Samvat
\ncalender has been adopted owing to people’s pressure, despite Communist regime.
\nI guess, RAW may have played the final, decisive role under PM Modi’s
\ninstructions.<\/p>\n
Secularism has been defined as Sanatana Dharma \/ heritage
\nto be regarded as sacrosanct and protected officially.<\/p>\n
Koiralas in Nepal
\nare like Nehru-Gandhi-Vadras in India !! Speaker of the House is an ex-Maoist
\nterrorist.<\/p>\n
They regard Nepal King as Avatara of Bhagavan Vishnu and want
\nus to respect the family on those lines while Indian media had not been
\nrespectful to the royal clan.<\/p>\n
Reporting of recent quake and the
\naftermath by Indian channels was derogatory and they strongly objected to that.<\/p>\n
Almost 13,000 NGOs have been active in Nepal with all subversive agenda
\nof conversion and disruption. Nepal had always been a highly unstable country.<\/p>\n
They confessed, India had been very generous with Nepal, all Nepalese are
\nIndian educated, own jobs and property in India, still abuse India. Nepalese
\nhave been very ungrateful to India, they rued frankly.<\/p>\n
Nepal has 13
\nentry-points with India while only 3 with China.
\nLong ago, Mao Tse Tung had
\nadvised Nepalese PM BP Koirala to necessarily maintain excellent relations with
\nIndia as China is unable to support them due to logistical bottlenecks. So wise
\nof them which Nepalese Communists are now busy defying and antagonising India.<\/p>\n
Nepalese Communist Govt. have been conducting themselves outrageously
\nand it is better for Nepalese \/ Madhesis to agitate to merge with India a la
\nSikkim.
\nIf for everything they have to depend on India, then why a separate
