Dhoni’s Gloves : On Stopping Pseudo and Super Pseudo Patriotism : Time To Stop Pakistan Paranoia

Why Afridi had to join in the super saturated Cacophony on Kashmir is not understood . Even more bizarre is the practice of Pakistani team offering Namaz on cricket field . Inzmam ul  Haq started beard and namaz in Pakistani cricket and the Tablighi Jmaat made inroads in Pakistan Team . It is often stated that performance of Pakistan team deteriorated sharply after induction of radical islam . So for Pakistan to lecture Dhoni is like pot calling the kettle black .

But a question we have to ask our selves which Dhoni we want in UK , the instoppable M.S.Dhoni that scored trail blazing 148 runs in Pakistan in 2005 which led to even Gen Musharaf advising him not to change his hair style or Dhoni overstaying in team inspite of an average of 27.8 runs in 2016 and 25 in 2018 .  Should he just stick to our cricket team just for money and stop better players . Worse why should he start an unnecessary controversy over triffle and divert team’s attention to unimportant issues .

Is real patriotism for our team is victory in world cup or we want to promote pseudo patriotism by wearing gloves and caps violating ICC rules that spur controversy.

Nation idolizes soldiers risking and sacrificing their lives for nation . It cannot tolerate money chasing bad cricketers and actors masquerading as patriots . They are just Pseudo Patriots . The only worse are the Super Pseudo Patriots ie celebrities that make irresponsible wild popular patriotic statements just to be in news like those who are shouting that India should not play against Pakistan in world cup !

Cricketers are not the only one to be blamed . USA did not participate in Moscow Olympics and Russian boycotted Los Angels Olympic . Attack on Israel’s team  in Munich by PLO terrorists is another classic example .  Zia and Musharaf played cricket diplomacy and Manmohan Singh hosted PM Gilani at Mohali test . Shiv Sena dug the pitch of Wankhede stadium . But they were well calculated moves for national interests . What national interest is served by wearing army caps months after Pulwama attack ?

That brings us to the next point . Now that the elections are over , should the nation not focus on the real problems of economic slow down , unemployment, poverty etc . Pakistan has no contribution in those problems . Should we not let Pakistan stew in its own juice and come out of the serious imbroglio we are in .All our efforts and public discussions should be for solving real problems of people not for letting population trapped and draw vicarious pleasure for ever from unimportant issues like Pakistan bashing . Pakistan is imploding due to Zia Ul Haq’s wrong policies and cannot be saved by anyone from imminent economic collapse . Its army is the biggest curse on that nation .But its collapse will not solve our problems of poverty and unemployment . Friendship with neighbours , however illusive can be our only goal and economic cooperation with neighbors should still be our long term goal.

So I say that nation should give up this Super pseudo patriotism and Pakistan bashing now and focus on solving the real national problems .
