Rashmika Mandana’s AI Video and Raj Kundra & Sunny Leone : Thought Policing & Trivialising The Dangers of Misuse Artificial Intelligence ; Riots , War, Cyber Crimes , Financial Frauds Are The Real Dangers

Recently a fake video of Rashmika Mandana became viral which was reportedly generated using artificial intelligence . Even mighty Amitabh Bachchan demanded action against the culprit .
The video is at best a prankish work of a bored teen ager and cannot even be considered obscene. Most of our actresses have voluntarily given shots with much more exposure .
The legendary photo of a very respected Sharmila Tagore in Filmfare can be seen which leaves very little to imagination . Many other actresses have gone much beyond and given nude shots . Sherlyn Chopra and Gehna Vashisht have been arrested for shooting soft porn films for money. Sunny Leone was a regular porn actress now a heroine in bollywood films . Raj Kundra only got caught, Ekta Kapur was making a foray in producing soft porn films and was admonished by Supreme Court.
Even before AI , celebrity fakes made with photo shop and computer graphics were and continue to be available in thousands on hundreds of websites . Pakistanis were always leaders in making porn fakes of Indian actresses and Aishwarya Rai was their biggest fixation . Computer graphics were used in films and now many dangerous stunts are done by computer graphics . But making a good fake picture was a very time consuming process . Making a video was even more difficult as frame by frame editing had to be done . Mughal e Azam colour print was made by this process . Recently Kareena Kapoor fat around the waist was reworked to make it look more exciting.
AI has only made this old practice very easy and less time consuming.
So why is Amitabh so angry ?
Just because some school or college kid made some video without actress consent ? So really it is only a case of use of photo without actress consent and not worth being mentioned by PM !
But possibly PM spoke because society need to be justifiedly concerned as unlike film actresses ordinary Indian families do not want Face book photos to be used for such fakes and girls can be very troubled by such fakes. These can be used for blackmail in marriages or international spying .
But simultaneously it must be considered that every man and woman has sexual fantasies . We cannot be a nation of thought police . People have right to get their brand of happiness alone . No more one sided laws like banning porn sites are really justified in the present age and even in excess it is not even half as dangerous as alcohol or beer.
So laws against misuse of Artificial Intelligence should focus on much more dangerous misuse like international spying or causing riots . Imagine if artificial intelligence generated videos were used during operation Blue Star or afterwards or Ayodhya firings by Mulayam Singh Government ! Cyber crimes is another area . Porn films or pictures are favourite tool of blackmailers , virus launchers , account hackers etc . There is a genuine need to develop cyber cell in every police station ! Our success in preventing cyber crimes is very low . AI can be used to track AI crimes .
So even if PM has taken note on Amitabh’s call , government should not rush to make more impractical laws . Courts in their present disposition too are not immune from taking popular stance and due to media coverage ,AI frauds will be normally neglected because of this Mandana video out cry.
So ultimately like atomic energy, AI is just a powerful tool which can be misused , Government should take a a very deep and balanced view before taking any action .
