Finally Pakistan Gets a Government it deserves ! : So , Whither A Nation Of Sheep Lead By Wolves , Thus Spake Zarathustra

Pakistanis are frustrated by the results of elections and forced to accept a coalition government at centre which is a repeat of the last, highly unpopular and ineffective , PDM government and is held by a fragile alliance of convenience between major parties PMLN and PPP . All big leaders have their selfish personal agendas preferred over the national interests. Like the proverbial monkey , its army is holding and slowly nibbling the bread between the fighting cats and will ultimately eat most of it leaving cats at their wits ends. As described in book ‘Death In Baghdad’ , foreign investors will avoid a country with multiple powerful bribe centres.

Also as proven during the last senate chairman election in which , violating an agreement with PMLN , the  majority supported candidate Yusuf Raza Gilani of PPP was suddenly propped up and yet he lost , this marriage of convenience can break down any time if any one throws an attractive bait . Also this coalition government will just muddle through and will be  incapable of taking any bold decisions and unlikely to solve any major economic , structural or political problem except getting further  IMF bail outs.

The crisis ridden Pakistan has many Dr.Manmohan Singhs or Dr.Kissingers but does not have a Narsimha Rao or Nixon who understands the depth of the problems and can take bold decision to solve them . Above all, the Indian politicians, judiciary , bureaucracy, parliament unitedly allowed a weak coalition government to implement the revolutionary changes and complete its term of five years . It is  an impossibility in Pakistan !

So who is to blame for this impasse in Pakistan ?

The entire nation including army, politicians , judiciary , election commission , bureaucracy but above all, the clueless, ill informed people of Pakistan who without understanding the problem, voted with their foot, out of general anger. Why could they not understand and unite in this crisis extra ordinary and find a mutually acceptable solution with the domestic and international community.

This is the question all Pakistanis are asking but they do not know their own history. As per Ramayana , seven thousand years back, Lord Ram , the eldest and the most capable son of king Dashrath was denied the throne and instead exiled to forest for fourteen years by his step mother Kaikayi who was a very beautiful and bold princess of kingdom of Kaikeya near modern Faislabad in Pakistan. She instead sought throne for her son very selfishly  and her husband Dashrath died in shock. She remained unrepentant .

Similarly in Mahabharat , the queen Gandhari , whose Kaurav children were lead by her eldest son Duryodhan , who was so mad after power and kingship that he denied even five villages to deserving elder Pandava step brothers on a false pretext . This ultimately lead to the great war of Mahabharat in which his all brothers , friends and relatives died . The villain in chief was scheming Shakuni , the brother of Gandhari and the king of Gandhar , a kingdom near Swat Valley in Pakistan ( Wiki) .

All the famous big battles of India against foreign invaders took place at Panipat ,why not at Attak or Lahore ? The people here  never united and fought foreign invaders together  except one sole exception of Maharaja Ranjit Singh. Pre independence Muslim League never joined any movement against British. No Pakistani prime minister has completed its five year tenure due to its army’s interference .

So really, large selfless, far sighted thinking is historically quite uncommon in the people of Pakistan . Their strength is soldiering not General ship or worse still , the visionary and constitutional leadership of even Pandit Nehru is totally absent . Except students in General Ayub Khan’s term , the people did not rise against army, the real villain . Like a herd of sheep , they did not rise when Bhutto was hanged or Benazir was assassinated  or Nawaz was removed and jailed in 2017 or 1999 . If Nawaz had continued in 2017 this mega economic crisis would not have come . No one publicly opposed the utterly futile Kargil war , Mumbai attack , Attack on Indian Parliament , jailing of the entire opposition by Imran government . No one opposed Zia joining a non Pakistani war against Russia or torture of Bengalis by Gen .Tikka Khan . The progressive nation  Pakistan was totally shattered by these blunders .

Even if they could not defend democracy like Turks under Erdogan, they could have at least understood the cause of economic crisis and voted for some one who can solve it ! Instead they voted for someone who acted like a permanent leader of opposition , even when he was in power and who jailed and tortured the entire opposition and chased mirages and non Pakistani problems like Islamophobia in UN for popularity at home  and annoyed all foreign friends by intemperate utterances and actions. His governance was pathetic and so unpopular till the army removed him in disgust which made him a hero !

IMF / China / GCC / OIC / EU cannot take Pakistan out of this economic crisis . Pakistan needs fifty billion dollars of honest FDI in agriculture and manufacturing but has no credibility . It  is totally isolated and friendless . World will somehow just keep it  alive by giving food but solve no other problem. People will continue to suffer and slide into greater poverty and illiteracy .

Every one knows who alone can save Pakistan from disintegration due to his knowledge and experience , international standing and credibility and capability to manage contradictions. He is no god but just a typical Pakistani ! But neither the Army wants to give up its poor back seat driving in weak hybrid governance nor others are willing to let their self interests take back seat for five years ! Another election will create a bigger chaos .

So ,whither the nation of sheep lead by wolves , thus spake Zarathustra
