At Stake Is Just Not Tariff  But Preserving The Indian Nationhood : Why Government Is Right And Must Be Supported In Indo – US Standoff

Rajiv Upadhyay

With fifty percent tariffs and other pains by the so called ally and friendly USA , India has experienced what Dr. Kissinger had said ‘ It is dangerous to be US enemy but it is fatal to be USA’s friend ‘.

India was perceived as a Russian crony by USA right from John Foster Dulles days of Cold War . Dulles tried to formulate the binary  theory of being either a US friend or an Enemy with no space for neutrality or sovereignty of nations . India under our brilliant PM Nehru, formed an alliance with Indonesia , Egypt and Yugoslavia to start a big non aligned movement that rattled USA’s ego but with no real harm . President Nixon supported Pakistan in Bangladesh crisis  and it  moved India firmly into Russian camp .

President Trump has repeated Nixon’s history . With his fifty percent tariff and open differentiation on Russian Oil and gas vis a vis Europe , China and Turkey has hurt India and it has quickly repositioned itself with in BRICS . But just as with Dulles, the world is not convinced of US bona fides and soon many nations tired of US unjust  and hegemonical behaviour will gravitate towards Indian position of preserving their sovereignty and strategic freedom . USA is trying to make a defiant India a scare crow for the rest of the smaller nations. It is being strongly felt that in this unequal fight, India stands to lose heavily . Indian Business men badly affected by US tariffs are very keen that this confrontation must end soon .

But it is not being understood that beyond tariffs, it is really a war to preserve Indian nationhood !

USA feels that India has used USA for economic benefit more but given very little in return . But USA’s fatal friendship is exposed in the nature of its unacceptable demands . At one stage US wanted Indian soldiers in Iraq and Afghan war which was utterly unacceptable . It lately wanted QUAD to be a military like alliance but India could not openly annoy Russia or China . It however gave many concessions which did not satisfy USA. India wanted self reliance in defence , USA instead wanted an arms  customer like Europe or Saudi Arabia . India  does not want to face the Russian dilemma of freezing of its assets or delinking from SWIFT and so is moving towards rupee based trade and payments while carefully avoiding de dollarisation campaign or BRICS currency. India refused to back US Crypto currency or stop buying cheaper Russian oil. So USA started feeling disillusioned and cheated in this relation and thus the CIA / Trump adopted a hard stand on India .

But for India its poverty alleviation , peaceful neighbourhood and security is far more more important . It can not join US or Europe’s wars . So USA did a regime change in Sri Lanka , Pakistan , Bangladesh and now in Nepal . It funded rebellion in India via Soros NGOs and Hindenberg type report against Adani but failed . It is openly starting promoting Khalistanis , caste wars , separatist movement in Seven sister states on religious basis etc.. With its unlimited funds it is a  formidable enemy . It is cosying up with its old client state of Pakistan much to India’s disadvantage as in Nixon era . India predictably moved closer to Russia to protect its vital interests .

Next decade is very crucial for India . West wants to re start neo colonisation of India and  to use its vast markets just as in 1757 – 1857 industrial revolution. It will use all overt and covert means . It cannot beat China and so will join with it in pressurising India . In next ten years China will stop worrying about  US military intervention or threats and will attack India if it does not acquire a mutual economic and military destruction ability by then . Only Russia and may be Japan will be our long time friends .

Indian people forgetting their divisions , must support the government whole heartedly in foreign affairs as only a united India can save its freedom .

With 1000 soldiers Clive captured India . Today a  divided India can be broken by just 3- 4 billion dollars by western neo colonialists by funding disturbances , religious , caste , kisan andolan type agitations .

Government , on its side, must be liberal and take opposition on board regularly in foreign policy matters as done in late Nar Simha Rao’s times .

But it must mercilessly suppress and eliminate all foreign agents and their local helpers  trying to break India .
