Demographic Death Stares at Hindus : Kerala Hindus Become A Minority
Consequences of Not Releasing Census 2011 Data
A few months ago the New Delhi edition of ‘The Times of India’ of January
22, 2015, had published a news of doubtful veracity proclaiming that the
Census 2011 has disclosed that the Muslim population in India had grown by merely
24 percent. It was further highlighted that the growth rate of Muslim population
was lower than the decadal Muslim growth rate of census 2001, though it was
higher than the average national growth rate of 18 percent for all communities.
The wonky story, apparently planted by a pro-Muslim lobb y and published in
Times of India New Delhi, had the trappings of a contrived politico-religious narrative.
Interestingly the selectively planted news gave no indication whether or not the figures of
The Census 2011 indicated by the newspaper were arrived at by excluding the census
data pertaining to the two States of Assam and Jammu and Kashmir – as was
mischieveously done in respect of census 2001 data whereby hangs a tale!
Meanwhile the ugly attempts of two successive governments, namely the previous
UPA regime and the ruling BJP led political dispensation have led to circulation of all
kinds of wishy-washy rumours about massive decline in the population of Hindus
in Delhi and many other cities about the dramatic decline in Hindu population in
several States, including Delhi.
But no government can hide the truth permanently from the citizens. The cloak
of secrecy woven around the Census 2011 data by the BJP government was torn apart
the Kerala CPI leader Kanan Rajendran on July 20, 2015. To the surprise of the
slumbering Hindus kept in dark by the BJP government that their population in
Kerala had massively plummeted to a meagre 48 percent, as per Census 2011.
Naturally the Kerala BJP had to admit the truth despite the clumsy attempt of their
government to keep the latest census data as a closely guarded secret. On 21st July 2015
a resolution adopted post haste by the State BJP in Kozhikode proclaiming that according to
t0 Census 2011 the Hindus had already become a minority in Kerala 4 years ago. He
admitted that the minorities, i.e. Muslims plus Christians had already become a majority
in the crescent-captured Kerala. He admitted that within next 25 years Kerala could
become a Muslim majority State.
Now rumours are rife in Lutyen’s New Delhi that t the decline in Hindu
Population has declined massively in Delhi, U.P. , Bihar and West Bengal.
Consequences of Fudging Census 2001 Data by Dr. Manmohan Singh
According to the then Registrar of Census, the actual percentages of decadal growth
rates of Hindus and Muslims revealed by the Census 2001 were as follows:
Religious Group 1991 2001
Hindus 23% 20%
Muslims 34.5% 36%
These authentic figures of 2001 census were maliciously manipulated
by the UPA government led by Sonia Gandhi and Dr Manmohan Singh
in the year 2004 on the eve of Maharashtra Assembly elections. The
intention was to bluff the gullible Hindu voters by showing that the
percentage increase in growth of Muslim population was only marginal
and not at the galloping higher growth rate of 36%. The decadal growth
rate of Muslims was brought down from 36 percent to 29 percent
by deviously excluding the population headcount of 3.6 crore Indians living
in the two sensitive States, namely, Assam and Jammu Kashmir, both of
which have a very high percentage of Muslims. Interestingly this unparalleled
demographic fraud was achieved by deleting with retrospective effect all
census data in respect of Assam and Jammu & Kashmir with retrospective
effect from 1961 onwards. The clumsy fudging was allegedly done at the
instance of the political conscience-keeper of Sonia Gandhi with the explicit
approval of the then Prime Minister, Dr. Manmohan Singh, made notoriously
famous by his “Muslims First” announcement made on December 9, 2006,
which was Sonia Gandhi’s birthday ! who has always prided himself on being an
accomplished Economist ! This kind of statistical skullduggery had never been
done in any democratic country ever. The unprecedented manipulation of census
data was done during the communally hyper-active regime of Sonia Gandhi and
Manmohan Singh regime in the year 2004 on the eve of Mahrashtra Assembly
elections. By manipulating the Census headcount of 201 the growth rate of Muslims
was deliberately brought down from 36 percent to 29 percent by omitting 3.6 crore
Indian citizens living in two sensitive States of Assam and Jammu & Kashmir.
The deletion of the big chunk of population was done with retrospective
effect from 1961 onwards, although the authentic headcount of census operations
carried in the years 1961, 1971, 198i had already been published and was available
in public domain.
Worldwide no other democratic country has ever taken recourse to this kind
of political fudging of census headcount ! It is a shame that the fudging of census 2001
data was done during the tenure of Dr. Manmohan Singh who is supposed to be an
Economist of international repute !
As regards the fast-paced demographic changes in most part of India attention
may be drawn to a facts-and-data packed article written by two eminent
demographers, late Prof. Mari Bhat and A.J. Francis Zavier. The article titled,
‘Role of Religion in Fertility Decline – The case of Indian Muslims, was
published in Economic & Political Weekly, Mumbai dated January, 29, 2005. In
the very beginning of the article on the mast of the column, the following summary
note had appeared :
“The fertility of Muslims, which was about 10 per cent higher than that of
Hindus before independence, is now 25 to 30 per cent higher than the
Hindu rate, and the difference according to religion is larger than the
difference between between the forward and depressed Hindu castes and
tribes.”
Frankly, the present Registrar General of Census, appointed by the Sonia Gandhi-controlled
the United Progressive Alliance regime , has successfully led up the garden path the
Union Home Minister, Rajnath Singh.
The master mystery of the continuing fudged Census 2011 narrative is that
even after 4 years the Union Home Ministry has not published the Census
2011 data despite repetitive attempts made by an RTI activist to elicit the religion-wise
growth rates of different communities at all India level as well as in various States, as
revealed by the Census 2011.
Rajnath Singh Responsible for BJP Defeat in Delhi Assembly Elections
The bottom line is that had the religion-wise data of Census 2011 been
released before the elections to Delhi Assembly the Bharatiya Janta Party would not have
suffered the most ignominious defeat at the hands of AAP. According to an informed
source in the office of the Registrar General of Census, Delhi has witnessed a sharp upward
increased in the percentage of Muslim population vis a vis the Hindus. At the same time,
the sharp increase in the percentage of Muslims at all India level and in certain States like
Assam, West Bengal, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh and Maharashtra etc., would have awakened
the Hindus to the reality of the looming threat of the serious demographic disaster
facing them. By making use of the Census 2011 data the volunteers of the BJP could
have easily motivated at least 10 to 15 percent more Hindu to come out and vote !
Grim Possibility of BJP Losing Bihar Assembly Elections
Unfortunately it appears to be beyond the comprehension of the Union Home
Minister, Rajnath Singh, that Census data is a key component of the strategy of winning
elections. He does not realize that the UPA government had strategically forestalled the
publication of religion-wise headcount of Census 2011 before 2014 general elections.
If only the Home Minister was able to understand the import of this simple ploy of
Sonia-Manmohan Singh regime he would not have sat on the reigion-wise data of Census
2011 for the last 10 months.
It is time that someone awakened the Union Home Minister to the well known
adage that ‘demography is the key to every democracy’. He should be bluntly told that
like the National Capital Region of Delhi, Bihar too is a State where the growth rate of
Muslims has been rising fast since 1951. Any further delay in the release of religion-wise
Census 2011 data is bound to adversely affect the voting percentage of Hindus in the
forthcoming Assembly elections in Bihar.
In any case, the inability to publish the 4 years old Census 2011 data is a grave
aspersion on the functioning of the Union Home Minister !
