CAUSES OF MUZAFFARNAGAR RIOTS
Face The Truth, Stop Trotting Lies

. . . . . . .
After seven days long rioting the law and order situation in Muzaffarnagar and Shamli districts of western Uttar Pradesh is slowly limping back to normalcy. Meanwhile a futile debate for scoring political brownie points is afoot. Astoundingly neither the U.P. government, nor the mainstream English media are willing to admit the truth that the epidemic of ‘love jihad’ is the real cause of Muzaffarnagar riots. They are trying to bury the facts. No one knows why ?
The plain truth is that after riding to power in 2012 on the strength of votebank politics the three leaders of the Samajwadi Party, namely Mulayam Singh, Akhilesh Yadav and Azzam Khan gave a free hand to the fundamentalist cartel operating in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts of western U.P. The result was an unbridled increase in cases of sex crimes against Hindu girls, especially the Jat women, which rapidly escalated communal tensions in the area and soured the relations between Hindus and Muslims. That is precisely the real cause of the eruption of widespread communal violence. The violence did not break out suddenly; it was in the air for quite sometime. More importantly, the local police officers were aware of the dimensions of the problem, but had no courage to report the ground reality to their political masters who were openly favouring their votebank. It is alleged that there were specific instructions to the district police to not to do anything which might annoy the privileged minority community closest to the Samajwadi party.
A glaring example of the partisan application of law was that after the killing of two Hindu boys, Sachin and Gaurav (who had intervened to defend the honour of their sister), on August 27, 2013, the Muzaffarnagar police registered a case of murder against 10 family members of the girl who had been stalked and teased by a Muslim youth, Shanawaz, who was beaten to death by the two brothers. Surprise of surprises, no action was taken against the murderers of Gaurav and Sachin. Reasons best left unstated.
The angst of the Hindus of Muzaffarnagar can be gauged from the fact that the district administration had been made aware of the epidemic of love jihad sweeping across the region. But no action was taken to curb the obnoxious antics of love-jihadi hoodlums. Several cases of rape, molestation and kidnapping of womenfolk belonging to the majority community by love-jihadi-romeos had been brought to the notice of local police repetitively. But somehow due to reasons not altogether inscrutable the district administration decided to take no action. A list of more than one dozen such cases reported within last one year was posted on the website of indiawires.com on September 11, 20131 What is most surprising is that no notice has been by the U.P. government, or the mainstream media, of this crucial information placed in public domain which highlighted the grievance of villagers. The aggrieved villagers lament that while a case of rape in Delhi or Mumbai makes banner headlines in the mainstream English media and forces the government to wake up and punish the criminals, nothing of that kind did happen in Muzaffarnagar and adjoining districts. In the first place no case is easily registered against love-jihadi romeos due to their political clout. And even when criminal cases are registered there is no system of punishsing the rowdies through speedy investigation and trial in fast-track courts. Secondly, due to massive financing from Middle East-based Sheikhs and support of Pakistan-planted moles in Uttar Pradesh the evil practice has taken the shape of a fast-festering global racket. Time has come for undertaking a full-fledged research on the subject.
Astoundingly some inadequately informed journalists have tried to trivialize the problem by labelling it as cross-community love affairs which is farthest from truth. They refuse to believe that many districts of western Uttar Pradesh have been tense – virtually on tenterhooks after the advent of the Samajwadi Party to the seat of political power.
Even before the smouldering embers of the mutual hostility between two communities could be extinguished, another disturbing news has come from Atrauli in Aligarh district where on Friday September 13, 2013, three love-jihadis riding a motor bike allegedly accosted and harassed a college going Hindu girl.2 The publicly harassed girl raised an alarm which attracted the attention of some bystanders who managed to pull down and nab a Romeo, while the other two love-jihadis escaped. The local police has arrested another Romeo, but the third one is still at large. Needless to mention that the incident has led to considerable panic and fear in rural areas of Aligarh. The aggression and dare devilry of love-jihadis continues to shock and frighten the villagers.
For a layman aware of the travails of angry villagers of western U.P. it is impossible to assess how long the State government can afford to ignore the ground reality. Equally difficult is to guess that how many more lives will be lost till our wayward media, unpaid and ‘paid’ secularist journos included, will agree to publish the politically unpleasant truth !
