Ramashray Upadhyay served a long stint as an officer with Intelligence Bureau. Be it the birth place of Naxalbali Movement in West Bengal in the closing years of 1960s or at the Indo-Bangladesh border in the north-eastern part of India during the Indo-Pak War of 1971.In recognition of his merit, the government of India awarded him the Sangram Medal and the Indian Police Medal.He has authored about two hundred papers and written a book , Indian Muslims in a Whirl Pool.
