CAA and Trump’s visit have exposed a chink in the Indian armor . On CAA , a purely internal matter of India, UNCHR ( Pakistan , Saudi , Nigeria members ! ) has taken an abnormal step of filing a suit in Indian Supreme Court . EU, British Parliament , American media , Islamic block led by Turkey , Malaysia, Indonesia ,Iran have joined the globally orchestrated chorus of condemnation . No one dare do it to China for Uighur muslims Hong Kong protests or even Saudi for Yemen, Iran for mistreatment Bahai’s , Pakistan for expelling Ahmedias. The lesson is quiet clear , “ समरथ के न दोष गोसाईं ” .

Modi’s delusional India had started punching much above its weight just as in Nehru days .
To Modi goes the credit of realizing and seeking the due place for emerging India in the new world order . His personal trust based approach backed by weaponising the Indian commercial power particularly armament, led to world readily accepting India as a new emerging big power . However America and EU led India into spending more in modernization of its navy and join QUAD . Russia welcomed it into BRICS and China into Shanghai Corporation . OAU and ASEAN also welcomed India. Iran gave us Chabhar port. Our strategic ties have matured well.
But internationally every one was seeking easy advantage from us without conceding any commercial or military ground .
So for all the sweet talk, US under Trump, made H1B visa much more difficult for Indian companies and removed India from GSP . Russia made its displeasure known by hobnobbing with Pakistan occasionally like selling helicopters or recent opposition of granting nuclear power status to India . EU and UK discussed CAA and Kashmir in parliament much to Indian chagrin. Iran joined Turkey , Malaysia, and Indonesia in criticizing CAA . ASEAN did not give in on Services inclusion or pharmaceuticals . RCEP remained a thorn . China brought Doklam crisis to brink to test our resolve. Pakistan still living in old Manmohan era illusions learnt its lesson at Balakot but has not given up its terror support .
So beyond high decibel optics of foreign visits , no big country gave any advantage to India but got a bigger share in the Indian market much to our discomfort . Exports remained stagnant at around $ 300 billions in spite of twenty percent fall in the value of rupee . Indian industry suffered by cheap imports . International Islamic lobby cornered India quite well in international media on 370 and CAA .Pakistan in spite of its handicaps played its cards quite well . Kartarpur and Taliban peace talks even put it back in the league of civilized nations.
So India faces the classic dilemma of a child who had put false moustaches and beard to look grown up and was even cajoled by grown ups . But the reality is back as his false moustaches fell down . What should India do now ?
Just wait for moustaches to grow naturally and till then go to Gymnasium and build muscles .
India needs exports and imports of a trillion dollar each to befittingly matter in global trade with a trade surplus of say fifty billion dollars . Its international aid budget will has to grow to at least ten billion dollars annually . Its space ,defence and associated research and acquisition budget has to increase to thirty billion dollars. We have to settle with Pakistan so that we can focus on China as our ultimate challenger in global pecking order.
Our moribund economics needs revival .The foreign ministry is highly under staffed and needs specialist support. We have to have non retired bureaucrat dominated think tanks for each specialiy . Commercial considerations must be seriously pursued in foreign relations just as done by Trump , Putin etc. India must move from merely demanding being treated as grown up to pursuing real benefits to its people .
The guidleline has to be

कि हर तकदीर से पहले
खुदा बन्दे से यह पूछे
बता तेरी रजा क्या है “
