Air India vs Lockerbie Plane Bombing :
West has forgotten basic principles of humanity in its ‘ Western Exceptionalism ‘ policy . Nothing demonstrate it better than the double standards displayed in its approach to two grave terrorist bombing of aero planes .
In an Air India 182 plane , which took off from Montreal in 1985 ,a bomb exploded in air killing 329 people, mostly Canadian citizens of Indian origin . In a similar Lockerbie bombing in 1988 , a PANAM 101 plane exploded over Scotland in mid air ,due to a bomb in luggage , killing 259 people on board . But this time people killed were of largely European / America
Treating Indian lives as dispensable , the Canadian Police released a Khalistani terrorist Ripu Daman Singh in just two years after a prefunctory , error ridden inquiry . But in Lockerberie bombing, west kept investigating till it was established that it had Libyan connection . Gaddafi was made to agreed to pay a compensation of 2.7 billion dollars .
Even after that he was eventually brutally murdered . President Regan ordered bombing of Gaddafi’s palace in 1986 after small terrorist killings in Rome , Vienna and Germany . The case of Bin Laden is well known . Entire Afghanistan was razed and finally Laden was killed by American seals in Pakistan .
In contrast Canada not only gives political asylum to terrorists but also allows to run terror training camps . In recent years Khalistanis and other terror cum drug gangs are running extortion and drug syndicate in Punjab from safe heaves in Canada . In 1982 Pierre Trudeau, the then PM of Canada and the father of the present PM refused to extradite Talwinder Singh Parmar , murderer of several police man in Punjab even when repeatedly requested by Srimati Indira Gandhi , India’s then Prime Minister .
In the present case , Canada is not arresting criminal Khalistanis in spite of interpole red corner notice and dossiers provided by the Indian governments . The tableau depicting assassination of Indian Prime Minister in a public celebration was below human dignity. Can Bin Laden not be called an Islamic activist if Ripu Daman Singh , bomber of Air India plane or Nijjar are just sikh activists ?
USA’s first reaction was not that of a judge but typically colonial , demanding Indian government to support inquiry, just on being named by Trudeau without any consideration for Indian case or sensibilities . Henry Kissinger succeeded because he valued friends and allies . At this rate America will continue to lose new friends like it lost Saudi Arabia , Iran ( Shah ) .American exceptionalism cannot be extended to devaluing human life or condoning running of terror camps for extortion , promoting secession and de stablising regimes in ‘ friendly and allied nations . Europe and other G7 nations who normally hide behind America, have already paid a heavy price in utterly unwanted Ukraine war . They must learn from failure of league of nations and fully support the UN charter in letter and spirit .
‘ Practice What Thou Preach’ or let others follow your example is what the global south is demanding now !
